October 2019: Our AGM is set for October 8th, 7 pm at the Terence Bay Community Hall. Please join us!
September 2019: As another summer season closes, the Terence Bay Lighthouse Committee acting for the community of Terence Bay still does not own the lighthouse. Her repairs are complete and she withstood hurricane Dorian like a champ! But, the use of the access path described in the easement of 1887 over two private parcels of land are still disputed by one of the land owners. It appears this landowner is currently renting the property out, but they still will not communicate with DFO who continues to try to negotiate with them to purchase the small piece of land. If this land were added to the lighthouse lands the access issue would be resolved.
January 2019: Repairs are almost complete, only slight adjustments to be done. The new top and light are so beautiful! Access issues are still unresolved. DFO assures us they are working on a solution.
July 2018: DFO/Coast Guard have begun major repairs! We hope this is a good sign that the community will take ownership soon! Access issues are still unresolved.
As of April 2018 the TBLC continues to work with DFO to try and resolve the access issue to the lighthouse. We cannot take ownership over the light and lands until we have clear, public access. If you want to show your support for our efforts please sign our petition. It is up at many of the Prospect Road businesses or sign online HERE.
You can also send your own letter to our government representatives expressing your concern for this heritage lighthouse and your support for the Terence Bay Lighthouse Committee's efforts (remember that letters to federal representatives do not need postage) :

As of May 29, 2015 our lighthouse has earned her heritage status! The community is very close to gaining ownership over our light. This is both exciting and challenging! If you have any interest in helping us out in any way please contact us.
